SPUTNIC (Strategies for Public Transport in Cities) is a project funded by the European Commission under the 6th Research Framework Programme). It is dedicated to challenges faced by regional and local public transport systems in transition. www.sputnicproject.eu

Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP)-Asia is a partnership between the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA, CITYNET and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) which aims to help developing world cities achieve their sustainable transport goals, through the dissemination of information about international experience and targeted work with particular cities. www.sutp.org

EPOMM is the European Platform on Mobility Management, a network of governments in European countries that are engaged in Mobility Management (MM). They are represented by the Ministries that are responsible for MM in their countries. EPOMM is organised as an international non profit organisation with seat in Brussels. www.epomm.org

VIANOVA, with partners from all the seven Alpine countries, is a project that aims to reduce car traffic and at the same time to motivate towards non-motorised and sustainable modes of transport based on physical activities (cycling & walking). A cross-sectoral approach (land use planning - mobility – health) will combine measures that fit perfectly to the sensible Alpine Space. www.eu-vianova.net

It is the aim of CULTURA to point out the necessity for soft measures like mobility management & travel awareness e.g. campaigns to control urban mobility and to substitute infrastructure measures for the encouragement of more sustainable modes of transport namely public transport, cycling and walking. www.mobility-cultura.net

Urban roads and public transport services are essential for the daily lives of citizens and for the local economy, increasing in importance, as cities grow larger and travel distances to work become to long for walking. The importance of urban public transport services is unusually pronounced in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region.
