Department 13B is the responsible institution for the spatial planning on the level of municipalities for the whole province of Styria (543 municipalities). It is mainly engaged in consulting communities concerning the development of their zoning plans and development concepts, which they have to elaborate on the basis of the Styrian planning law.

The department furthermore deals with the ongoing development of the planning law and its corresponding instruments. Thereby the concept of integrated planning is an essential part as well as the coordination of urban and spatial planning with other disciplines, mainly the management of transport. In this respect spatial planning can give important inputs to the overall process. The whole department integrates three main fields: spatial planning, building law and energy-consulting.

The Provincial government of Styria will mainly address the work package “Integrated planning”. It will closely cooperate with the City of Graz and AMOR in order to achieve complementary effects.
